Loved it til it stopped September 4, 2010 Mic (Orange County, CA) This is a great transmitter. I have trouble finding one with enough power to work in my Pathfinder in the LA area. This one was great. Then it just stopped working. It lights up, but doesn't recognize that anything has been plugged in. Nothing got bent or pinched, it was in the same spot it's been in for months, one day it works, the next it doesn't.
Just Static August 31, 2010 Penny Maybe it depends on where you live because this thing did not work for me. I tried every radio stations and none of them worked, all I could hear was static. Amazon took it back without any trouble at all though.
Still One of the Best in 2010 August 30, 2010 Harold G. Meeks Jr. (raleigh nc) I have gone through several FM transmitters, like many other iPod/iPhone users - looking for that magic transmitter that would work consistently and provide good audio.
Depending on where your accessory plug (cigarette lighter) is in your car, this device can be difficult to tune due to the display not articulating. it is flat on top of the connector power connector. This is not a tremendous hassle, but made tuning on my car a little more trying.
The upside of this device is that it works way better than any other transmitter that I have tried. It has a 3.5 mm connector instead of a dedicated iPod port connector - so it will work with anything that has a headphone jack. The signal is clear and will override some of the weaker stations. The sound quality is quite good; many times there isn't even the low level of static that many of the better transmitters still have.
The bad new is that iRiver has not made this transmitter in some time. They are hard to find, and fetch a premium price - but for good reason.
Most versatile transmitter I could find August 23, 2010 D. Phillip Chandler (HOUSTON, TX, US) My wife and I listen to audio books daily as we commute to and from work. We download the books to an MP3 player. We needed an FM Transmitter we could transfer between vehicles easily. This unit is particularly suited to our needs because you can select any FM station instead of only a few choices available on other transmitters we researched. This feature alone puts the unit at the top of the list as far as we are concerned.
Absolutely the best FM transmitter I've ever owned August 19, 2010 Nathan Reed This is the absolute best FM transmitter I've ever owned.
I'd purchased several cheap FM transmitters over the years. Most of them were too "weak" -- even when I found a relatively isolated and clear FM channel, I had static, bleed-over from other channels, etc.
When I received a Microsoft Zune for Christmas several years ago, I thought I'd upgrade, and I purchased the Zune Car Pack. The charger in the car pack worked fine, but the transmitter was the pits. Awful. Almost useless.
Based on reviews on Amazon, I tried the iRiver. It works great! I've programmed three different stations in my normal driving area, and I'm happy... I mis-treated my first iRiver (the cord was frayed from pulling it from between or under the seats), and I didn't hesitate to buy another.
