Just don't buy it! October 23, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This phone has to be the most unreliable phone ever made. I've had three of them in less than 2 years, the first 2 being replaced because of faults. In all three the trackball stopped working in at least one direction, usually the direction you most use it for which in my case is down. It makes the phone almost unusable since keyboard shortcuts cannot always replace what you want to do (e.g. read an email that is below the currently selected one). This is an incredibly common fault - just search the web for "Blackberry Pearl" and "Trackball".
My latest Pearl is the worst of the lot: 1. The trackball doesn't work in TWO directions. 2. Dozens of phanton internet icons have appeared on the screen from nowhere and I can't get rid of them. 3. The 'cursor' flickers rapidly from one icon to it's neighbor. 4. It spams my contacts with empty text messages. 5. The internet browser stops working after a few minutes and the only fix is to hard reboot (i.e. take the battery out) 6. The predictive text, which with this keyboard you must use, is terrible. Common words like "I've" it spells as "U've".
I've given up on it. The Pearl is utter, utter RUBBISH.
