| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description The VAF Research Octavio 1z is designed to play music and videos directly from a Zune MP3 player while charging it at the same time. Connect any brand of MP3 player through the rear inputs or use a Zune player in the inbuilt cradle. Video output from the Zune cradle can also connect to a TV so that videos and pictures may be viewed on a big screen.
Amazon.com Product Description Timed to coincide with the release of Microsoft's Zune media player, the Octavio 1 speaker system fills your home or office with pure, powerful music and movie sound. The Octavio's central feature is the built-in Zune cradle along the top, which both charges the media player and sends its audio and video signals to the amplifier for audible playback. The Octavio 1's video output, meanwhile, connects directly to a TV, so you can enjoy your Zune photos and videos on the big screen without running additional cables across the floor. And when you're not listening to or watching your Zune, you can connect the Octavio 1 to a DVD player, video game console, or other video source. In short, the Octavio 1 serves as an integrated, high-end entertainment system that makes everything from music to movies to games sound rich and robust.
The Octavio's built-in cradle holds and charges the Zune media player. | Audio-wise, the Octavio 1 sports 100 real watts of amplification, along with a large 8- inch bass driver, two 5.25-inch-long linear travel woofers with high-damping synthetic rubber roll surrounds, and two fluid-damped fabric dome tweeters. The woofers and tweeters also boast powerful magnetic motors and high-power voice coils, contributing to the elegant, crisp highs and powerful lows. And thanks to the electronic response equalization, listeners will enjoy a naturally accurate sound response from just under 40 Hz all the way up to 20 kHz. Other construction details include a first-grade medium- density fiberboard enclosure and a beautiful leather-style finish that damps unwanted cabinet resonance.
The Octavio owes its powerful sound to an 8-inch bass driver, two 5.25-inch linear travel woofers, and two fluid-damped fabric dome tweeters. | Controlling the Octavio 1 is also simple, with straightforward one-button operation. The button lets you switch elegantly between all your audio and video sources or adjust the volume in a snap (a remote control is also included). And just like the Zune itself--which initially comes in black, brown, and white--the Octavio 1 isn't restricted to one color only, with three patented acoustic skins providing a variety of looks. The powerful leather-style skin adds a touch of sleek sophistication to your decor, while the colorful skin will turn heads. VAF also included a seamless white skin that's perfect for sparse, modern designs.
Three patented acoustic skins provide a variety of looks for different decor schemes. | The Octavio 1 measures 23.6 by 10.2 by 4.3 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 23 pounds. What's in the Box Octavio 1 speaker system, remote control, power cord, user's manual.

TERRIBLE - Bad Company September 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product started off good. Then after about 2 months it just stopped working. No sound. Called the manufacture - no response plus they are in Austrailia so they just put you on hold hoping that you will just hang up. Emails - NOTHING!! Amazon was cool enough to give me a replacement and guess what - 2 months later BROKEN! Tell I am a little upset - so now there is nothing more Amazon can do and I am stuck with a $500 paperweight! Go with the Kicker for Zune - sounds just as good, half the price and you know Kicker is not going anywhere
Believer in Clearview September 1, 2008 I have been pleasantly surprised and smile everytime I use the Octavio Speaker System with my Zune. I have a friend that is an entertainer who I used to borrow the speaker system from; she can't believe how good the Octavio sounds. I am very pleased and now can listen to my music in my backyard without having to borrow!!! Believer in Clearview!
VAF Octavio Speaker System August 21, 2008 Great product. A little expensive. I do wish it had a portable or battery option. Great sound.
Awesome July 29, 2008 Great speakers, recieved them as a gradution present and have used them for the past 13 months with 0 problems to date, i use them beside the pool, beside the deck and sometimes on my computer, very versitile.
A++ Speakers
FANTASTIC!!! April 16, 2008 I originally purchased a Polk I-Sonic. The sound sucked and the unit lasted one month. Being as I am living in St. Maarten in the Caribbean I didn't bother to return it to the States for warranty (it costs to much to ship) so I canned it. Then I did some research and found the VAF Octavio unit. Purchased it from Amazon (with free shipping) and it arrived today (my birthday). It is more than I expected! The sound is fabulous for the units size. The construction of the speakers and the unit are excellent. But, most importantly the SOUND is the best. I highly recommend this product as the best portable unit on the market today.
