Axion Portable TV January 6, 2009 I use this compact, attractive portable digital TV in my kitchen, and it is just the ticket to listen to news while preparing dinner! Reception is excellent when connected to a power source. When operating on battery power, I find that I have to move the TV to other spots to maximize the reception. I do not use the remote, as the TV is within arm's reach, but if it were not, the remote is a handy option, although it doesn't have any volume control. I am unable to get too many stations, but don't mind, as my use of this TV is limited, anyway. I like the built-in stand, and that I can take it with me while traveling. The battery life is about 10 hours.
Good things come in small packages. January 5, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ordered this tv after reading other favorable reviews to replace an analog tv for the kitchen. Right out of the box it picked up all the local chanels I had gotten before and several some I hadn't recieved on the old set. I did have to use the optional antenna for best results. All in all it seems to be a good buy. The picture is really clear and the color is right on. So now I'm ready for the digital switch come February.
So far, very impressive December 31, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this television (as a gift) after a bad experience with a Haier 7" LCD portable (very poor reception and then it died the day after I gave it to my mom). I ordered the Axion as a replacement and the reception is a LOT better than with the Haier. It picks up more channels and almost all the channels are crystal clear (with the Haier, only one channel was clear). I think the key for these TVs is an external antenna. WIth the Haier, you have to purchase one. This TV came with a built-in antenna AND an external antenna, and perhaps that is the difference as far as reception. (As to why the Haier stopped working - no idea). This TV is to be used as a replacement for an analog and the review is based on use with just the antenna provided, not hooked up to cable or any kind of converter box. On its own, with the antenna provided, the TV has so far been excellent. After the experience with the Haier model, I am thrilled with this one.
Not Working Yet December 26, 2008 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
Christmas present that I charged overnight, then tried to use this morning when I got to work AT MY TV STATION! Barely picked up the analog signals,(except ours) and NO digital signals AT ALL. Will continue to try when I return home tonight, but, for now, it's not working like it's supposed to, and may be coming back for a refund. Even if it works with the supplied "external" antenna, which pretty much renders the product as is USELESS!
UPDATE! Appears to get digital TV signals ONLY with supplied EXTERNAL antenna....BEWARE!
nice little digital tv December 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this tv as a replacement in my office for my tv that had been used without cable. It has a clear picture and the external antenae that comes along is needed to help with the reception, but it works great and it is portable. The rechargeable battery seems to hold a charge pretty well too as I charged it and let it run for a few hours without power plugged in. The only thing that I would suggest is that it be nice if they gave you a portable bag to store the tv in when travelling or storing it.
