Product Description The iPod, iPhone, and MP3 player have all but replaced other media for portable music access. Now you can enjoy it at your office or home while listening through speakers instead of earphones. Sony extends it even further with its ICF-C1IPMK2. Digital AM/FM Tuner lets you choose from a wide variety of radio, talk and music programming Full Function Wireless Remote Control (included) permits access to all the music on your iPod from across the room. 2 Great Features rarely noticed... November 23, 2008 I also have purchased a few of this types of clocks etc and agree that none are perfect, but for me, this one has ended up being the best for two reasons (well they are both sort of the same reason) .. I don't think I'm the only one out there that has my iPhone in a case, like mine is an in INCASE rubber cover, so with the case on, the phone won't fit into any standard size docks - so what a pain as no one is going to take their case off to fit into a standard dock insert (right?).. so what is nice about this clock is that it doesn't even come with inserts, it has a decent size opening in the dock that nicely fits iPhones even with cases on (so that is what I think is the first good reason) and then this is almost the same reason but a bit different is that one could use the iHome IP9 without any insert and the phone would slide in there with a case, but it would be so unstable and could break the dock connector, but on this one, since the dock is mounted low and the phone can lean its back up against the phone itself, then the phone is securely in the dock and won't bend backwards and break the dock connector, and Sony put a dial on the back to so to adjust that square you see to hold the iPhone securely... so for me these are important features, I agree the iHome has a better dimmer, but I'm not as bothered by the light of the clock on the low setting when trying to sleep, if this is a driving issue for a person then that may be an issue.. and the iHome has the 5-2-7 alarm where you can set it for just work days, weekend or all 7 the same, that also is a nice feature the iHome doesn't have, but in all the rest of the areas I think the Sony is a bit more refined and better, the remote, the sound qualtiy, the tuner of getting in stations (as Sony has been doing this stuff for decades and is known for it where iHome has not).. actually both the Sony and iHome IP9 are both very good you just have to pick which features are best for you as not one model offers the best of all worlds, but for me, the fact I can use it simply with the case on alone makes this one better in my situation..
NICE FOR A NICE PRICE November 22, 2008 SONY ICF-C1IPMK2 SPEAKER SYSTEM AND CLOCK RADIO WITH IPOD DOCK is a very nice buy considering the price and Sony brand. It serves my purpose as docking for my Ipod 80gig classic in my masters bedroom to play my music, and play the video as well. The wireless control functions on all the menu functions of my Ipod unlike other brands which only controls the audio and not all the menu functions of the Ipod.If only it has audio/video output terminals for external home entertainment system, it be perfect.I recommend this to anyone since it is very elegant and you can even watch your down loaded movies complete with stereo sound with expand bass.
Great!!! A+++ November 17, 2008 I absolutely love buying stuffs off amazon because they are great!!! I bought this item as a birthday gift for someone and he loved it!!! thank you!!
an ipod doc that doesn't allow you to wake to you ipod November 3, 2008 This item is great, with one exception. I cannot use my new 120gb iPod to wake. Every morning for a week, I tried to wake to my iPod, and every morning, the buzzer went off. I am a technically savvy person, and even read the directions. Much to my dismay, I ended up sending this back and getting a stupid iHome again because I knew it would work. Sony, you have let me down yet again.
Audible distortion, but great potential October 28, 2008 I received this unit today after eagerly waiting 5 days for delivery. After hooking it up I noticed audible distortion with both my iPod classic and iPhone. The manual warns that distortion is possible if an iPhone or other mobile phone is nearby. I put the iPhone in Airplane mode to disable all radio transmissions, but sound distortion did not subside. At a low volume of 8, the distortion is overpowering. At higher volumes the distortion is mostly drowned out. It is very likely that my unit is defective and it's going back.
However, at louder volumes where distortion is drowned, the sound quality was remarkable, easily living up to the comments posted here. The speakers can fill the room with rich, warm sound. I am going to give it another try after a couple of weeks.
