Awful!!! November 26, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I received this player 10 days ago, (I have a Sansa View, wonderful), but I wanted something with a bigger screen for photos and videos. From the moment I held it I knew it was bad. Cheaply made, the on-off button stuck on the hold position was rattling loose, making a funny noise, screen poorly lit and the instruction manual written in second grade english. I cannot even give it as a gift, I would be too embarrased. I see the product has been made in China for the company that sells it.
Good customer service but product lacking November 25, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was looking for a higher-capacity MP3 player (I still had a 256 MB) but wanted to play video too. So I saw this one and couldn't pass up the price and 16 GB capacity, so I took the risk.
Customer service was good, I emailed the supplier Myoutlet21 and they gave me the order status and the USPS tracking number.
I was originally very disappointed with this product. I messed with it for hours trying to get it to recognize an avi file, which another reviewer said works best. I was almost ready to send it back when I experimented with other file types. The product is advertised as being able to handle avi, rm, rmvb, and flv files. However, mine does not play avi files, but plays rm and flv files. I did not check rmvb files since I have no conversion tool for this.
For audio, the product has no problems with mp3 and wma files. These were the only two audio file formats I checked.
When playing rm files, the video is very choppy so that the sound is out of sync with the picture. Perhaps the product needs more memory or processing power. After experimentation I noticed that flv files are only about 25% the size of rm files. The smaller file size of flv plays OK on the product. There is a good free online conversion tool to create flv files at http://www.zamzar.com.
The earbuds that came with it are junk, so I use my old ones.
The battery capacity appears to be very short. There is no way it could play video for five hours as advertised. Hopefully this is just because the battery is new, and hopefully it will improve with use.
I checked out the FM radio tuner on the product and it works OK.
Overall, customer service was good but the product is lacking.
Just Okay for mp3/mp4. November 16, 2008 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought it mainly to watch some of AVI movies I have, well it is useless for that propose, sound doesn't match the video frames, and after a while it starts jumping frames .. I have tried 8 different AVI clips and they all have the same problem. MP3/MP4 player is not bad, but limited in features It hangs once in a while user manual is useless.. battery life is bad.. 2 1/2 hrs max.. very cheap quality, I can't remove my memory card.... I wish I could return it..
A Great Affordable Media Player! November 13, 2008 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
After reading extensive reviews about the 16G 3" 16:9 TFT TouchScreen MP5 Player and similar IPod clones offered by Pro EB (PE) on Amazon.com, I decided to take a risk and order one.
While waiting for the player to arrive, I received a detailed e-mail from PE with links to the Pro EB online storefront that included helpful user manuals and online videos for my Touch media player
The TouchScreen Player arrived a few days later via USPS, bundled with: USB cable Electrical Outlet / USB attachment to recharge. Telescoping aluminum wand. Headphones with in-line volume adjustment knob. Silicone protector. Printed instruction manual.
Initial battery charge time took approximately 3.5 hours with later charges being around 2 hours. While recharging, a 3-D animation of a battery filling up with metal rings plays on the screen. Once complete, the animation stops with an image of a full battery. Kinda neat :)
The printed manual was a hard read as the English translation is rather rough. The online guide is worlds apart from the manual; vastly expanded and as an added plus for me, it included tons of pictures and screenshots.
After using the Touch Player for a while, I did notice a few things: * Audio: Appears to handle almost any audio format thrown at it. * Video: AVI files appear to work best(uncompressed), followed by WMA and Real Player. * MP4 files are a definite hit or miss with even the online guide admitting that MP4 playback on this player is not so hot. A link to a free MP4 to AVI converter is included in the online guide and it makes file conversions a breeze.
Also: * The Touch Player is indeed 16 Gigs. The purchase form states it in writing and the memory meter accessed via the "settings" icon on the player itself also states it with a handy "memory used" reading. * This player accepts up to 4GB MICRO SD cards for memory expansion. Micro SDHC cards are not compatible. * The player can recharge via USB when connected to the computer, simply click the "safely remove hardware" icon at the bottom of your computer screen if using Windows. * The wand is OK but almost all of the navigation can be done with a nimble finger or the silver side buttons without issue. * SLOW DOWN. Fast double clicks result in a non-response. "Click, pause, click" works best. * In the case if no response for buttons around the edge of the screen, the touch area can be adjusted via the "settings" icon. * The bundled USB cable is very short, almost unusable if your computer tower sits under the desk. I tried a USB cable left over from a digital camera that's 6ft long and it works perfectly. * If ID3 information is included with the mp3, this player can automatically categorize your music by artist, album and genre if you select the Music icon followed by "Media Lab Update". Also very neat! :) * Be careful. The player is a tad delicate and very light. The bundled silicone protector is a godsend and will guard against knocks and bumps. * Most importantly, explore this player. After Googling, I found that this player is powered by the RK2706 chip that offers several additional features not covered in the printed or online manual.
After loading 100 + songs and 5 Movies on the player and using it all week, I am extremely impressed. Several of my co-workers are taking advantage of this very affordable player and ordering them as presents. I took their lead and ordered a second one as a gift myself!
Great for everyday casual use November 6, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have only loaded music onto my player so far, but it was quick and simple. I haven't gotten a chance to try to load video or ebooks yet. My only frustration so far is it doen't bookmark where your music left off when you turn the player off. So if you don't want to start with the same song every time you will have to manually pick your starting song. It does reshuffle everytime you turn it on so I always have a good variety of songs. Shipping was super fast, but I did have to pick it up at the post office. So if you are ordering for a Christmas gift order early or stand in line! Battery life is good, download is fast, screen is huge and easy to read. There is no place to store the stylus that comes with it so I just use my finger.
