The iM600 sports a distinctive thin and elegant glossy-black look. A spring-loaded button deploys the speaker's stand and reveals the iPod dock, power button, and volume controls. We just love it! We took it on vacation and it turns your IPod into a great sound system. You can play without electricity for up to 3 hrs so when the radio signal faded we were able to continue to hear music. When electricity is available just plug it in for longer listening. The sound is GREAT and its a great size too. It has a radio in case you want to switch to that. I highly recommend this product. So far I have nothing negative to say about it. Even the price was good.

Not happy with it. I bought the Altec ipod player based on the reviews and price. Mine often does not turn on - i can't seem to figure out why. The sound is not great. the antenna broke off.
Great sound, Great Price November 30, 2008
Very lightweight, easy to carry, great sound. Only complaint is that I thought the remote snapped into the back, but it rests there and is held in when you fold up the back. Good for trasport, not good for storage when the speakers are open.

I would like to air an issue with Altec Lansing customer service. Since the product affected, IM510, is no longer made, I am placing it here.
The unit simply stopped working; it would not power up. I received and RMA & promise to replace it in 3 weeks. Two months later, nothing: no product or communication. I sent an email, and they informed me it was backordered.

It is now over 5 months later. No communication, nothing shipped. While I like the product, a company must stand behind a product.
Better than Bose! November 28, 2008
I got this dock station back in May after bringing my ipod into the electronics store. I was testing for sound quality before I even looked at prices. I LOVED IT!! My roommate and mother bought the two new Bose portable docking stations. Mine sounded just as great but the remote worked so much better. Best of all, I take this outside and all to everyroom in the house while Im cleaning or working. Its even taken a good beating by little ones wanting to carry it around. It's never died on me. I dont have to carry some cord around with me. I only remember to plug it in because I want my ipod to be fully charged before I make and sales calls on the road. The price is reasonable and the performance is great. I highly recommend this product and will be purchasing two for friends and family this x-mas.
