Creative Labs Mosaic MP3 Player September 1, 2010 Buzz (Ohio) I have several Creative Labs products and am very happy with all of them. It is not easy to create a playlist of selected files in the Mosaic. It seems to have a mind of its own and always puts all of my files into every playlist. Still working on figuring it out. If anyone has experience doing it, post a message.
Nice little player. August 21, 2010 free stater (Louisville, CO) My first MP3 player. Nice little thing. I prefer to not use their Centrale software, but rather just copy/delete files to the file system (just like Windows file system).
good basic mp3 August 20, 2010 Donald Cohen (FL) I use my mp3 t listen to audiobooks exclusivly, so sound quality is not a high priority. It is compatible with my downloaded audiobooks, easy to transfer aucio cds to, and seems to have a long battery life. It has been easy to use. My two disappointments with this item is that the display stays lit (on dim, but still visible to others in the dark) and the controls are so small that they are hard to feel for the right one in the dark (even with display lit).
Many problems August 8, 2010 kmole (Phoenix, AZ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
First, I have been extolling the virtues of Creative for years and have a number of their products, but the trouble I have with this unit have me rethinking all that. First the pluses. Sounds good and the size is great. BUT,at least two of the buttons stick most of the time. They have since the day I received it. The black on black buttons is just bad design b/c it is unusable unless you've memorized the buttons or your in bright light. I thought about that but when I bought it, so I take some of the blame for buying this color, but it's still frustrating.
I've also had trouble with the unit freezing up when scrolling thru the menus and then you have to use the reset button to get it to do anything b/c it is dead to all inputs.
The software, Creative Centrale, seemed like a huge step backward with its relatively limited functions. It's no better than Windows Media Player, in fact it's worst because it too locks up about 1/3 of the time. It also doesn't recognize all the songs in the library. I ripped 2 songs off the same CD the other night. The songs are visible when I look for them in Windows, visible when I use Media Player, but Creative only sees one song. It also seems to arbitrarly find and not find some albums. Depending on how you sort your library you'll see different songs. (Sort on Artist and see 10 songs from the artist, sort on album see 9 songs from that same artist, sort on "all tracks" and see only 8 from that artist...ugh).
The reason for me posting this review at this time despite my struggles with this thing over the past months was that I created a new playlist using the Creative Centrale. I loaded the playlist on to the player. I then went to the player to listen to it. I found the playlist and selected it, the player told me to "Please wait". Well, I waited for 48 minutes, and nothing. I had to reset the unit. I've done that 6 times now, I go to the playlist and it never opens and freezes the unit completely and I have to reset.
I use this solely as a music player and it has failed in nearly every basic function (except battery life which is AMAZING). I've very disappointed in this product.
2 died in less than a year August 7, 2010 Michele Radin 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
purchased 2 of these - one lasted 1 year and 1 day (so outside of warranty) and then the screen burned out. The second device lasted about 6 months before the computer froze. I could not clean or reinstall the program because my computer would no longer recognize the device. The $19.95 mp3 I bought at Walgreen's lasted longer than each of these...
