Garbage July 24, 2008 I found this product to be garbage. At first I was impressed with the sleek look, but eye candy only goes so far. I actually bought the product because it allowed you to change between a media device and an audio player. What that means is that it will show up as a USB storage device, so I don't have to use special software to copy files to it. I found one problem was everytime I changed the batteries, this setting was lost, so I had to manually go in and switch it back to USB mode. I could deal with that though, but really got me mad was that the play button broke. I only had the player for about 2 months, which doesn't seem very long to me. I tore it apart and tried to fix it the best I could, and it worked for a little while longer but then broke. Also I wasn't very happy with the battery life, it would rip through batteries fairly quickly.
I then got a creative player about the same size as this and have been extremely happy with it.
Great little player for cheap July 18, 2008 I got this as a mobile MP3, it's great to use while moving around a lot. It holds 2 gigs of music which ends up being about 300-500 songs depending on the size and quality. It does seemingly randomly make the files invisible at times, and I'm not talking invisible with the ability to be shown in the folder (hidden), I mean there will be files on the device that don't show up on explorer. However, this is easily fixed with a quickformat and transferring files to the device doesn't take very long at all. Great portable USB MP3 player for the cheap pricetag.
Didn't even work a month. July 18, 2008 Title says it all. Got it, put music on it (much of which it failed to recognize) and then after about two weeks of very mild use started showing garbage on the screen whenever I tried to move beyond the last 3-4 songs I'd played. I got robbed.

Great little MP3 player and more! July 11, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have had my Coby MP3 player for about a month now and it worked it great from the start. Read the user manual from cover to cover and couldn't believe how easy it was to use. This player also comes with a USB cable (even though you can insert the player directly into a USB port for direct transfer), a AAA battery, and ear bud headphones. You can also store all kinds of files (Word, Excel, JPEG, etc). A great value! I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another Coby product in the future.
Got a defective unit July 4, 2008 I had high hopes for this player, but there were some major defects in the unit I received, enough to return the item to Amazon.
- After loading it with some songs, any subsequent plugging into my computer would only show some, not all, of the files I knew were in there. Eventually, I found that I had to copy another file into the player in order to make the "hidden" files appear.
- Trying to put a large file or files (~400MB or so) into the player caused an error window to pop up. I tend to listen to podcasts in batches on the weekends or want to replace a big chunk of music all at once, so having to drag the files over in parts was also annoying.
Smaller problems:
- Font type is some kind of long, skinny serif. Doesn't match the nicer font in the listing image.
- There are, if I remember correctly, seven LED backlight colors, but ONLY the blue is attractive and allows the LED font to be most clearly legible. The rest of the colors (red, green, orange and some others) make the text hard to read.
- Build quality is not particularly good. The plastic itself seems sturdy, but shell and covers are somewhat ill-fitting.
- Sound quality is simply okay, nothing more.
This player has 2GB flash memory, but no FM radio or microphone, so overall, the current price (~$30) represents fair but not spectacular value--if you have a properly working unit.
