Good little player November 16, 2008 Reliable little MP3 player. Rechargeable by hooking to computer. Only problem, one cannot see the display in sunlight, so hard to operate controls outside in sunlight.
DON'T BUY CREATIVE! October 31, 2008 The first mp3 player I bought was by Sony and it has worked pretty well, but since I didn't care for the design or the menu, I thought I'd buy a different brand this time around. The Stone really appealed because of its price, looks, and features. So I spent a lot of time reading reviews and despite the number of people that said theirs randomly stopped working, I still ending up ordering a Stone because of the price.
WHAT A MISTAKE! I started using the Stone right away and everything was going well. I laughed at myself for worrying. THE VERY NEXT DAY, my FULLY CHARGED Stone WOULD NOT TURN ON! I couldn't use the recovery tool that I downloaded from Creative either because when I connected the Stone, it wouldn't show up on the computer. MY STONE WAS DEAD WITHIN TWO DAYS OF USE!
So, there goes fifty bucks. (I bought the 2GB plus with speaker.)
Other reasons not to buy the Stone:
It is ridiculously hard to turn on and off and you have to press for way too long. The middle button isn't big enough or something. Whenever I try to turn it off, I end up turning up the volume super loud instead.
When you reach the end of a list, it doesn't go back up to the first one.
You can't choose individual songs in a folder.
Changing the mode it's playing (in one folder, on repeat, shuffle, etc.) takes way too long. I have to press the middle button, right towards options, down to play mode, and then up and down.
You can't browse music and listen to music at the same time. So let's say I want to go from my Carnival Ride folder to my Some Hearts folder. Well, as soon as I switch over to Some Hearts, Flat On the Floor is cut off because Wasted interrupts it and starts playing.
The clock doesn't work. When you connect the stone to your computer, it asks if you want to sync the time to your computer time and I said yes. Like an hour later, I checked the clock on the Stone and it reset. O_o Before my Stone died, I had synced it twice and both times this happened.
I think I've made my point. THE STONE IS A BAD BUY! So don't buy it.
Good sounds and design. Very poor Battery September 10, 2008 The battery lasted about 2 months. I return and got a new one which lasted about 1 1/2 months. Very little use.
If it dies after 9 mos. you have to pay $25 labor fee for repair August 3, 2008 This MP3 player worked fine since I purchased it 9 months ago for my son. However, it is now dead without having been damaged or mistreated in any way. After attempting to get an RMA for a warranty return on the Creative website I found that the 12 month warranty is only for hardware parts, NOT labor. So to continue the return process for this player I was going to have to enter my credit card information and be charged $25, then add the cost of shipping it to them. NO WAY.
I've had much better experiences with iRiver players and will stick with them from now on. I'm done with Creative.
You lost 1 customer April 8, 2008 I thought highly of Creative Labs, being 1 of competitive brand along with Sandisk and the Apple Ipod but I guess not. After 1 month of using this seemingly perfect product, it just stop responding. Probably I got 1 of the defect but it still means I have wasted my money which makes me upset as it is hard earned money. One thing I can say for sure Sandisk has never failedCreative Zen Stone Plus 2 GB MP3 Player (Black) me yet.
