Great mp3 player! November 25, 2008 I got this mp3 player in Christmas of 05', so I have had it for 3 years. It works great. The quality of the player and the sound of the music is amazing. I have it in the 2.5 GB. Just a great overall mp3 player, and I recommend it to everyone. Just this past summer the battery started to last less than it usually did. So the battery lasted at full capacity for 2.5 years before it started to need more frequent charges. Very simple to upload music to it. Out of the 3 years I have had it, I have only had it freeze once, after I uploaded lots of songs. The headphones that come with the player are also very nice, and give great sound quality.
DON"T BUY THIS>>>>>>>>>>>>! October 3, 2008 I bought a Rio Pearl with a 90 day warranty. It died about 85 days later. Neither the authorized Rio dealer (internet) nor the amazon merchant PCMONDE would honor the warranty. In fact the authorized repair/dealer said that the Pearl has not been made since 2003. If you buy this item, you will be a victim as I was. Rondie the sadRio Carbon 5 GB MP3 Player
Four Years and Still Going Strong! July 23, 2008 I bought my Rio Carbon when they first hit the market about 4 years go. My daughter has been through 3 Creative Zen units, and friends have had multiple Ipods and Sandisk players. My Rio keeps on going. Easy to navigate, easy to understand and use - very straightforward controls. I like the screen display too. The 5 gb of space is adequate for what I want (just music and books). I have 3 books and tons of music on here, and still have space left.
However, I did drop it today from the ledge of the elliptical machine, and the volume wheel is now no longer accessible. Luckily I had it set at the right volume and don't see the need to send it in for repairs. I'm on here though looking to see what current prices are so I can order another one!
Rio Carbon MP3 5GB Player May 25, 2008 I have enjoyed this product for years, downloading books and listening to them while I relax, clean the house, work in the yard, etc. I bought my own earphones because earbuds never stay in my ears. The Rio device works beautifully. It downloads easily and the sound is clear. It bookmarks which is extremely helpful because once in a while I have leaned against something with the Rio in my pocket and suddenly I find my self at the beginning of the book again. No problem; the bookmark feature takes me back to my spot. The battery cannot be replaced. The first one lasted about 4 years and is now fading, losing power even when not in use, so I recently bought the same model again.
Take your chances..... March 3, 2008 Well, the carbon is good in ease to use as well as pretty good battery life. Be warned though, the little volume wheel is very cheaply inserted in the player and if you drop it, or even press hard on it, it will cave in into the play itself, and then you can ajust volume or navigate the menus fast. When i had mine, it did this exact thing 2 times, and after spending 100 bucks to get it repaired, it breaks again, and i decided to buy an ipod and have never been happier. My advice, skip this and buy a 4 or 8 gig nano, or a Creative zen.
